Bitcoin was supposed to be used as a currency, not only a form of investment. However, it's been more successful as a form of investment, a "speculative asset".

Bitcoin has came a long way from being a virtual currency and now to be seem as a form of an investment from my own opinion Bitcoin has failed as currency and I don't see it as a future currency. I don't think Bitcoin will change in the long term but if it could that would be great!
