Don't think it is necesery either. If there is a big bull market, alts are much better to hold, and the prices are so low now, that I see more chance of alts value rising more than bitcoin, than the opposite.
There is more risk in holding altcoins. HOwever, they do bring us a great amount of money which bitcoin can not provide. If you want to be rich, you need to understand cryptocurrency in order to make a right investment on a right altcoin. There is another way to make money with altcoins: trading. Trading is not very hard. You can learn trading on the internet or on youtube. There are too many tutorials out there and you do not need to be afraid of having no guide
