Communication is key here.  This is the problem when there's no escrow involved and a campaign manager who's not high-ranked and doesn't have any positive feedback--and the campaign is in a self-moderated thread, no less.  I've definitely seen campaigns like this where the participants don't get paid and the intention of the project was just to get some free advertising.  I do hope the devs follow through.
