Sorry if a bit off topic but just curious though, aside from the forced updates and occasional instability, why so much hate for Windows? I mean are there clear efficiencies and advantages to using linux that will bring you more profit? Seems like windows is "easy mode" but is it because you'd rather play "hard mode" just so you can brag and say you did it in hard mode?
I don't, I'm using it right now for what it's good for. The stability of a linux vs windows can't be compared.
I'm sure someone in here would be more than happy to brag about a multi-year uptime on one of their miners.... Any takers?

No, Windows sucks donkey's balls, particularly the recent incarnations of Windows 10 that insist on updating themselves for no good reason and breaking random things (like wireless networking) in the process. Annoying as hell, enormous time waste, and costly to manage. I completely understand why you would focus on Linux.
