It's essentially the same function of doing an ICO. You're raising money for the purposes of reinvesting it into your company.
If the main concern was transaction fees and liquidity you could easily use altcoins..
I don't think someone investing a significant sum would be concerned about a few satoshis of fees that bitcoin currently has..
