The amount of gold mined every year keeps increasing, so even if there is a finite amount of gold, its discovery is currently inflationary. In contrast to that, Bitcoin is deflationary because the amount mined every year is decreasing based on its design. Thats why its so hard to compare the two right now. I think Bitcoin has a lot of potential on the upside.
