Related question (possibly for grnbrg), do I need to make the payment from the same address that the shares will be assigned to? 
2 of the shares I want to buy are a gift to a friend and so I was going to provide him with the address and private key for christmas.  I could send the money to that address then use it to buy the shares but then I need to import the key into my client and I don't want to risk getting his shares mixed up with mine.
