I would rather let all my sMerits decay to zero rather than give them to some shitposter hoping to rank up. 
Rightly said. If I was the admin I would announce it all of sudden with 1-2 day time period. All the spammers will try to merit their alts in hurry and we will have next batch of merit abusers ready to be punished. Makes the work easier for the staff.
