These are ASIC hardened modifications of equihash algo ...
For the love of crypto, please stop spreading such silly misinformation...
Yes, I oversimplified, but changing N and K parameters of equihash algo increased RAM requirements with intention to prevent current gen of ASIC's. Right?
Close, the decisions were based on the speculative myth that the RAM shortage (which is long over) would prevent the ASIC manufactures from competing with the GPU manufactures. These decisions were made by people that have no clue how much RAM the current ASICs even have, much less how much they are capable of having (or at what cost the upgrades would come).
It's all a bunch of garbage that preys on the notion that us GPU owners will ignore the reality that ASICs are better than GPUs in almost every way and that we'll be emotionally linked to our investments and want to "protect them from the evil Bitmain" (
who is actually only 1 of 4 ASIC manufacturers).
How many new doorstops did you purchase ComputerGenie?
If ASICs are the best solution, can you explain to us why ASIC resistant POW algorithms were created?
Thanks EWBF! I have been mining bitcoinz on a mix of 1060 6gb, 1070ti, 1080ti for 2 days on Win10X64 with no problems.
