Now fewer and fewer coins are using the PoW protocol, I think it's justified, because mining is no longer popular and new coins do not need to be mined..

PoS if often an opposite of decentralisation and a scheme to suck money out of ppl (masternodes...). It's easy to get a coin going with PoS, no need to secure the hash power to make network actually work - just some shilled masternodes and it's all set. There's nothing inherently better in PoS than PoW. Seen any coin better than BTC? It's PoW
We are at the beginning of a lot of experimentation with decentralized protocols and POS is part of that. Calling it the way you called it doesn't make sense yet.
