If you are hodling your coins, it is better not to check price frequently. Instant movements on price may cause to sell early. I am usually check my portfolio every week-end then close the screen and keep dreaming 
I have long given up my investment in Bitcoin and today I do not care about the price of Bitcoin. But nevertheless, I realize that it is the price of Bitcoin that greatly influences the crypto-currency market.
