I also added some nodes to my machinecoin.conf and mine sync'd right up. I pulled them from my local machine.

I had the same issue, try adding some valid nodes to the config file and restart it...

If its still not working you can also try delete all files (except config and wallet) at you machinecoin folder - most probably located at ~/.machinecoin
