Absolute easiest way to solo mine is use -ck's solo pool at solo.ckpool.org. Ya is an oxymoron but it gives painless access to solo miners.
Their thread is here I suggest you post this question there as -ck or someone else will have your answers.

You missed my point; -ck's solo pool does not share the rewards among the pool users. The finder gets all rewards and TX fees minus a 1% operators fee. As Fanatic said, he just made a painless way to solo mine vs setting up your own node. And, much discussion of your odds etc there.
