This will take care of the amount of coins mined in the future. It should be kept to an amount where it is profitable for miners to still mine coins ,and or increase transaction fees to keep the network alive. As far as reducing the amount of current coins in circulation, some friends and I are in talks about the pros/cons of buying x amount of coins and destroying them (sending them to black hole, putting on paper wallet and then destroying the wallet, etc)- therefore reducing the "float". We are trying to determine how many we can destroy while hopefully still being profitable for us and everyone involved.
