These are fundraising goals. Soft cap is the lower limit, the minimal amount required for the project to be considered. If the project does not reach its soft cap, the team will return the funds. On the other hand, hard cap is the maximum amount a crowdsale will receive.
Agree but without getting a softcap of the ICO the project will not proceed because they cant proceed without of that money. Well it is also a sign to the devs if their coin will be a success if they reach the Softcap. Now the hardcap really the maximum amount they can handle which they will end the ICO if they reach it. What important is softcap is reach within the deadline so that they could start their roadmap/plans
Usually a soft cap is just a very small amount but we investors like the ICO to be successful by reaching its hard cap because there is a bigger
chance of success rate and of course as an investor we want a faster return of our investment so we can again invest it to other ICOs.
