this here is the heart of the problem. you and most everyone else keep saying "the market" as if all the 2000 altcoins are the same thing moving together! of course we have majority of them getting dumped when the dumping time comes but that is "majority" not all.
instead of fooling yourself with things like "portfolio" and miss the huge profit that is out there, you have to start looking at where the rest of the money is going.
for example those that are making a living from trading aren't just going to sit around and die of starvation because "the market" is dumping! no they are elsewhere making a lot of profit while the newbies bag hold the altcoins that are dumping and calling it "portfolio"
Well, in a way they kind of are.. Every one of those 2,000 coins you mentioned is based around 1 central coin. That's why when you see the Bitcoin price go down, you usually see all of the other coins go down. That is money moving out of the "market". There is also this thing called a "Market cap" that is the sum of all of the money in the market. So yea, it really is all just one big market.
