The main cause is the rapid rise we had at the end of 2017. Crypto enthusiasm reached fever pitch, and everyone was buying in. Prices rose too far, too fast. The first part of 2018 was the big dip, where prices kept falling in search of a stable point. After that we had a big bounceback, and then the inevitable fall after that. The crucial thing I think is that both lows were around the same price point, which indicates there is a lot of strength there and resistance to further drops. I would expect prices to increase quite a lot over the next few weeks.
