Does anyone understand PPLNS?
Is it more or less profitable to join a PPLNS with more or less hash power, or is it meaningless?
It's meaningless as long as you don't hop between pools, and try to only stop mining right when a block's been found.
Yeah, that much I understood. Wanted to try my luck at a pool with 0% fees. At this difficulty level I don't even know if it's worth trying on 250khash/sec.
With less hashpower you want PPLNS over prop. Proportional allows pool hoppers to 'steal' from non-hopping miners and thus honest people get less. The more relative hashpower others have over you corresponds to how much you can possibly lose from hoppers with a prop payout system.
PPLNS will introduce more variance (especially for low hash power miners) but will always be fair.
