As far as volatile is concerned, that could change if peoples view changes. Most bitcoin users see bitcoin as an asset, and as long as that is the case bitcoin will be as volatile as we know it.
But even if people starts looking on bitcoin as an currency and start using is more frequently, a lot of time would pass before we could see stable price.
Other than that, predicting bitcoin future is as easy as predicting someone else's time of death...
