EOS isn't even a competitor, there's no question that Ethereum is better. After a year and 6.5 million Ethereum raised they released a bug filled mess of a blockchain, entirely centralized to 21 BP's most of which are voted in solely because of Bitfinex. They compromised the integrity of their blockchain several times already, and have had to resort to paying out bounties for people to fix bugs instead of doing it themselves despite raising 6.5 million Ethereum and dumping it all in one year.

Ethereum desperately needs to scale, but while it slowly scales it's main chain, 2nd layer solutions like Striim, Raiden and OmiseGo will solve most of the problems.
