The proper steps to take is to get the news, verify the source and Do Your Own Research
Then no one would fall into scam icos
I second this statement. If you do now do your own research, study the project, try to contact partners and confirm the legitimacy of the business, talk to the team, then you are merely basing on other people's opinion and that puts you on jeopardy.
I do not firmly agree with contacting the team , because most times the identity of the team is undisclosed and you are not able to interact one on one with the team too.
An expansive research is better, where you look at every details without leaving any stone unturned.
