I'm not sure if I would want to create my own whole state, but I have thought of things like this. There was a thread on here about seasteading. That's the closest thing I've heard of recently to somebody starting their own state from scratch. I remember about 10 years ago, ThePirateBay was trying to buy an island or something like that so they would be exempt to copyright laws. I don't think that worked out. For me, I think some thing much smaller scale would be better. I have many people in my life that I love, but, unfortunately, most of them are spread all over the world in different cities and countries. I've often thought that it would be really cool to gather all the people that I think are awesome and all like together in some sort of community.
