Hello, my brother passed away last week. Yesterday I heard he had purchased bitcoin a long time ago. What do I need to do to be able to sell his bitcoin as part of his estate. I have no bitcoin wallet app from him. Dont know password. There is no will, although I can obtain an attorney who can legally appoint me as administrator of the estate. He lived in Miami, Florida. Do you have any idea where he got the coins from? Like the others said, you'd have to go looking for private keys and through his hard drive to see if you can find anything. It's possible you could get hold of the coins if he left it on an exchange as if you become the executer of this estate (don't know why you'd need an attorney to do that when you could do it yourself).
Could you take a screenshot of the screen where you can see the coins if he did have the wallet (there's a chance he didn't fully encrypt it).
