I guess my fault for not looking at things too diligently. I kind of just decided to jump in feet-first into mining.

Yup. With Saturn you will be profitable for long time. I'm pretty sure that he will mine way more than 7 BTC + machine itself can be sold on secondary market any time. They are currently going with really high price (~$8000+) on ebay etc.
