I suppose if you didn't have all the info you could look at it that way but all indications show that the devs are serious about this project and want to get it right. I would rather wait longer for a coin that has effort put into it to make sure it is great than to get a faster release (like almost all other coins in existence) where they eventually have to fork the coin or subject us to coin swaps and the like. Progress is being made and if you are with us in the Discord chat room you would see this.
