I believe that if the ethereum does not do something disastrous, it will become the currency of the future definitely. There are not so many hype around it as around bitcoin
Hopefully it will become in the future, and the contracts it has could extend more developments compared from now. Because current system doesn't work so well, due to some network problems on blockchain. Although it has a better track on trading capabilities, we need to consider those facts that eth potential will always be great because of the growing eth contracts.
