If you are involved with a project that does not update you daily, doesn't provide information upon request and seem to have a lot of inconsistencies you better run away fast!!!.... you have to be absolutely in the loop with everything to do with your investment.  This is Radical Transparency:  actions and approaches that radically increase the openness of organizational process and data.
