Oh, well it depends on how much does that money mean for you. In my case, I would give at least two hours to verify the team, read the paper, see the groups ask a few questions, etc... The best thing is that you do not have to spend much money in verification. My advice is to forget about the WP at first, don´t even read it, just go to ICOBench and see if the team has passed what they call the ICO KYC so at least you know that the team is legitimate.

After that, try to figure out the industry sector. Some tokens are addressing problems that don´t exist, and even in the best of the cases they will not grow in value. There are quite a few more things to check, but there are many post providing guidance, just do a quick search.
