The governments of the world can pretty much do what they want. Nothing else we can do about it. All we can do is enjoy what we are having right now and hope for the best that bitcoin will help us reach our goals.
The government clearly can make regulations like anything and even adopting a digital financial system to be applied to their fiat currency is also not a problem, of course with changes adjusted to the conditions of each country.
