First community vote!
A lot of discussion has been taking place in our Discord about how to fund development of our back end infrastructure now that we are a completely community run coin rather than a for profit organisation.
Our proposal of introducing a block reward developer fee needs to be voted on by the community. Some suggested a 1% fee while many suggested a 5% fee. Coins with dev fees built into their block reward tend to range from 3% to 13%. Many feel 1% would not be enough and suggest 5%.
5% is modest in my opinion so I have voted for 5% as a necessity for the future success of the coin. We hope to attract more developers who are inspired by the open source and decentralised proposal for a social media platform free from the sale of user data. While this motivation is a start, the reality is that funds will need to be available to pay for the dev work to be done.
At the current price of Pigeoncoin, 1% would be roughly $5000 per year, whereas 5% would be about $25000 a year.
