The money was then used to warship a god and to build temples. Abraham in the bible paid taxes to Melchizedek. It is a kind of spiritual tradition. To get something, you need to give something away. Afterwards, kings and rulers started to collect money as well for their armies or to build cities. From there, it has involved into what we all call today tax.
