is the Syscoin 3.1 version for non masternodes / normal wallet users mandatory too?

i will upgrade my masternodes on monday.

just asking because some of my friends are holding sys too

most of them are afraid of the updates and i allways have to babysit the process for them.
i'm a bit tired of the that since we had quite a few updates this year (which is a good thing)

if it's only mandatory for mn's i will tell them to pass this one if they can't do it by themselfs
