I know my 28Th isn't all that glamorous... but, damnnn
slush's N is about 1 hour - not exactly sure how it's calculated, but you'd have to read his web site
Our N is 5Nd - or the equivalent of 5 Network Difficulty of data - currently just under 8 days.
This means that if you have an outage or change your hash rate, like you did yesterday - add miners, the variance here is MUCH lower than at slush.
If you have a lot of outages, every day, and miner failures and generally can't keep your miners working, then slush's 1 hr N doesn't matter.
If you have rare outages/changes in your hash rate, then our 5Nd means MUCH lower variance due to the changes.
However, our pool variance is higher coz we're smaller.
