I always say cryptos are for the Gurus and brave at heart, Some ICO's seems promising from the beginning, but does not hit the market in the end. You need to be brave and ready to take the risk.
It is not only the ICO's projects to invest as an option for investments because there are other options to invest too especially in the aftermarket of those tokens that are being listed already and considered as coins already. Meaning to say you can choose to invest on aftermarkets coins and see those established coins in the coinmarketcap rankings.
