Re: Faucet Owners Problem With Shortlinks

This is odd, because AFAIK the most common shorteners do not behave this way.
I have encountered shorteners in the past who would only count an ip once per 24h regardless who's shortlink was used.
But today, this is IMHO virtually  unheard of?
I'm seeing a lot of short link traffic with my sites and if an ip would only be counted once regardless of short link account, the statistics would look very very different.

P.S. Granted I work exclusively with dynamic links, which in my case results in each link only existsing once and once visited it's gone.
i agree that my testing was wery wery crude and had alot of flaws. i wasnt able to accurately count how many visits i sent to each of the 2 api's individually, and i had only done this test with a single shortlink. i didnt need much more as the result was everything i needed. another variable i wasnt able to confirm is if it behaves differently if the visits come from different sites (as both visits allways came from the same domain.)

i also use dynamic links (as they allow for better tracking and are generally needed for my setup). but this could simply be an odd one in the mix.

perhaps someone who has the mostly used script or even runs a shortener can shed more light on this Wink
