I think we can do some things to make that number higher. We can encourage vendors to take Bitcoin, we can encourage people to use Bitcoin as a currency, and we can welcome "noobs" that want to learn about Bitcoin instead of making the whole thing an exclusive club.
It is not a bad idea but things are never so simple, if you need to encourage vendors to accept bitcoin then this means that bitcoin is no bringing them a lot of benefits, what it needs to happen for vendors and business owners to begin to accept bitcoin as a currency in their businesses on their own is that enough people are demanding to use bitcoin as a payment option, they need to see that they are losing money by not accepting bitcoin.
And that will only happen once there is enough people using the bitcoin network and for that to happen we will need to solve the scaling problem, something that the developers are already working but that is going to take some time before it's fully resolved, so until that day we can only wait.
