All the newbie in trading need to have atleast $500 to gain a good amount of money and i think your $500 can grow really high if you can able to choose an altcoins that have a very cheap price but have a chance to grow when the market will be in good condition again.
for me it's a big risk and most with $ 500 capital for the start of trading, to start trading with $ 200 capital for me is quite enough. With $ 200 capital we can find altcoins that have good potential and have fast price movements, and with $ 200 capital we must be able to try to add to our estimated capital, and to conduct day trading, we must have experience in trading, avoid cut loss to trade.
