The news in term of development are actually decent, with LN getting closer to a release, so I think this is just temporary. 
I think the bitcoin price rapidly going down because of the new currency and also the demand of bitcoin continuously decreasing. I think one of the problem of bitcoin is lack of new investors so it may affect the bitcoin price. Some bitcoin user switch in the new currency because they think that the bitcoin fall.
