Africa is a large segment of the world economy that could see some challenges in catching up with the rest of the world in being a part of the crypto revolution due to poor internet services infrastructure. This is the fall out from less investment in the development of the sector. Yet I don't quite understand how cryptos in their current state could help people there. The coins are volatile, there are probably almost no potential investors and I bet the situation with exchanges is also very poor. So what, is anyone actually expecting African merchants to accept bitcoin as payment? I can see that there are some applications of blockchain on the continent, but I bet these people mostly don't even have bank accounts, so the use of cryptos as mediators ensuring low fees must be extremely rare.
