If members give a good enough reason to be an upgrade member and display no real signs of untrustworthiness, why not?
This is not "look at me, look at me" in the slightest. If that's the way you wish to perceive it, that is no more than your own train of thought. The motive behind this thread is an example of the repercussions of treating bitcointalk members who are upstanding, follow the rules and mind their own business...like crap. The forum is slowly heading toward a centralized, pyramid style community, and in my eyes based on the beliefs I've been pushing since I joined here, it's atrocious. I personally do not want any involvement in that, so I am giving members who deserve a shot at being a ranked member the chance to do so.
Actually your posts look like someone who bought their account and is unfamiliar with the conduct usually expected on the forum.
Merit begging is something which is not acceptable and this thread will promote just that.
Also I am suspicious of your sudden altruistic gesture as I think it is a butthurt reaction to getting caught and tagged for meriting shitposts in an effort to up-rank the demoted newbies that were shills in your ANN thread.
Having looked at your recent posting history it is obvious that you are unfamiliar with the rules and etiquette such as multi-posting and the purpose of merit. Something that is suspect when it comes to an account that has been around for as long as it has.
It indicates to me that it is likely to be a bought account of someone who has had problems before with their other alts or who is oblivious of the etiquette and rules of the forum.
This is what you said in another thread and is inconsistent with your "I abide by the rules" stance:

I do not agree with the merit system so I merited those contributing positively to our thread.
If a negative trust is really the course of action here, then so be it. It makes no difference to me or the project I am running.

Until then I view your account as probably being bought and associated with these likely hacked accounts :
