I think its because gambling gives comfort to some gamblers. As a gamer, I feel comfortable when I am playing games although I can't say that I have been addicted to games but almost . Its almost the same in gambling. If it gives comfort and entertainment to you then there are times that  you cant stop it until such time that you are getting addicted unto it.
