Many altcoins are focused on solving internet-related things, and few altcoins are focused on solving real-world problems, altcoins have virtually no use in real life. That's why so many altcoins will disappear. Let me give you some examples:

Mr. Z creates an anonymous coin, the next day we will see many people creating ICO with the aim of creating an anonymous coin that according to the creators of ICO will be better than the first anonymous coin.

Mr Y creates a decentralized exchange, next day We will see many people creating ICO with the aim of creating a decentralized exchange that according to the creators of ICO will be better than the first decentralized exchange

No one is creating anything New, they are only doing copy/paste of existing projects. Result, we have many altcoins, but that has no use in real life
