theymos multiple times said that currently forum don't need donations. They get enough revenue by selling ad slots. Also, there are more than enough BTC in forum reserves. And with new rank requirements Bitcointalk will get BTC from people who are buying Copper memberships.
As said above, you can donate less than 10 or 50 BTC if you want, you just wont get VIP or Donator then.
It's Bitcoin forum, why they would need to accept altcoins for donations? It's just extra hassle. And probably people would just dump their worthless tokens if forum will start to accept ERC20 donations
