🌎💫History of exhibitions.
The symbol of the World Exhibition, which was held in Paris in 1889 and was timed to coincide with the centenary of the Great French Revolution, was the famous Eiffel Tower.
The grandiose 300-meter metal tower, designed by Gustave Eiffel on the banks of the Seine, was twice as tall as the tallest structures in the world. It served as an entrance arch to the territory of the exposition.
🏰 Behind the Eiffel Tower were various exhibition buildings, the main compositional role among which was played by the luxurious Palace of Industry. On the dome of this building, 65 meters high, was installed a huge female figure, personifying France.
After the exhibition, the Eiffel Tower, like all other exhibition facilities, had to be dismantled. But the tower, despite numerous petitions and indignation of Parisians, was preserved and after a few decades became a symbol of the city.
