How is negotiation with exchanges going, can we expect listing soon after end of the sale?

I see people always asking questions about exchanges. I wonder why that is? Why does it matter where the token is listed?
Maybe people have a lot of experience with this - I would assume maybe even tokens can get a better price if they are listed on a more famous exchange.
