I will give a few tips and ways to make it easier to see posts that are decent or not worthy of your glory

If you want to be a merit source:

 1. Be a somewhat established member.
 2. Collect TEN posts written in the last couple of months by other people that have not received nearly enough merit for how good they are, and post quotes for them all in a new Meta thread. The point of this is to demonstrate your ability to give out merit usefully.
 3. We will take a look at your history and maybe make you a source.

Quote
Has given 11 merit 11 times, to 10 accounts ( 1.1 merit/account)
Has received 27 merit 16 times, from 11 accounts
(seems to have stopped updating recently as Vod's got some bugs to fix).

Maybe you can take an example here:

You can create this link:
For anyone who posts feeling good, please send 10 of your post links (no need for new ones, old links can also) English-speaking and qualifiedHERE, I will review.

about the merit and new rank requirements.
My point is simple, as long as we are patient enough and see to it that we just share quality posts, we can reach higher ranks eventually.
Higher rank members in the forum will not leave any of us unnoticed and without merits, if they feel our share is deserving of merit point(s) BUT will definitely won't bother at all to give us any merits if our replies are trash.
I just do hope that the merit system will not be abused and each of us should be watchdogs in upholding the real intention of the merit system in attaining clean and only quality information published in the forum.

This might help you implement Merit:
