Its being recognized and a lot of people knows about it, but they are just not interested in Bitcoin or any cryptocurrency. You may ask why? Lol, but why would they even go for it, its not meant for everyone, so they should focus on what works for them.
You shouldnt expect everyone to be spending their time on Bitcoin when there are other things they can do. If I had a good job I wouldnt be here, trust. So, I believe that majority of those here are here to survive.
