Yep there is no real marketing for Bitcoin, corporations and companies have a team exclusively dedicated to marketing their product so everybody hears its good parts and uses it. Bitcoin doesn't have any of this, leaving the media free to say whatever they want, which happens to be whatever is the most attention grabbing (usually bad news!).
Indeed, this is what happens because we know the legality of crypto currencies all over the world has not been fully done and it all makes crypto currencies do not look so real but I am sure that if the legality problem is recognized, the whole world will certainly be able to get functions like real currencies.
