So, what about no Merits for the likes of you, who are desperately looking for this 'One' Merit these days so that they can continue to do what the new changes are supposed to stop?

Its the mentality or the quality within a person that doesn't let him write useless things somewhere. The amount of appreciation he gets would make no difference in that, in any way. So it is not giving less Merits that can stop the spam, but it is giving them to the right people that would do it in the long run.
