People were amazed when Avalon (first ASICs chips sold in large numbers when nobody else was doing it) managed to sell chips worth of ~8 mil USD. Throwing the 40 mil USD now with the huge increase in difficulty just makes me wonder how do people believe this. This is even worse than Labcoin posting naked PCBs.

Fair point, but BTC is close to 1000 USD today and not 100 USD as it was last year when Avalon were taking orders.
Also difficulty only rises because chips are being bought and mined with.

The price is only 10 times bigger while the difficulty is 100 times bigger so profits are way smaller in BTC terms and in $ terms than in summer and we don't even know the price per chip yet.
